FEBRUARY EVENTS
February is a busy month in the life of our church. We have three major events scheduled.
TRUST QUARTET IN CONCERT AT 11:00 A.M. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2012
Some years ago, (more than I care to remember) Buzz Beasley and I formed a Southern Gospel Quartet. I sang lead, Buzz sang bass and we had two other singers and a pianist. However, we kept losing one or the other of our members and things just did not come together as we had hoped. We both know now that it was because God had other plans. I am here ministering with you all and Buzz has another group, Trust that is very successful. They are outstanding and should not be missed. The 8:00 a.m. service will be our normal preaching and communion service. Trust will be in concert at the second service. The Relay for Life Team "Christians for the Cure" will have A fund raiser -
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! 8:00 A.M. SERVICE
This Sunday, September 18 we will return to our normal worship schedule with two services. The 8:00 a.m. service will resume with a revamped traditional service. The 10:00 a.m. service will continue as a blended service with the full praise band. Saturday night is our contemporary service; a digital worship experience. We offer these three different approaches to worship in the hope that all who come will have an encounter with the living God.
One God, One Church, One Sunday Service, One Month
Historically September is one of the slowest months in the Keys and the lowest attendance in worship. For the month of September we will be having one service on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. We will continue to have Saturday night service at 6:00 p.m. We have come to understand that many people come at
8:00 a.m.on Sunday because they either work or have other things to do on Sunday later in the day. Since we will continue having Saturday services we will still serve that need. Please spread the word and let's be one family during the month of September. We will resume the 8:00 a.m. service the first Sunday in October.
THE CRISIS IN INTEGRITY
One of the characteristics of what has come to be called, "The Greatest Generation" is that they are as good as their word. My father, who was of that generation, could be counted on without question. If he said that he would do it, you could take it to the bank. It was as good as done. That has, regretfully, and to our detriment, become a thing of the past. As a pastor, I am constantly amazed and appalled by the lack of commitment in our culture today. If someone agrees to perform a duty or a ministry, they may show up and they may not. In the book of James it says that we are not to swear by anything in heaven or on earth, that our yes should be yes and our no be our no. In other words, we should be of the character that if we say yes, we don't have to swear. People will know by our integrity that we mean what we say. Perhaps the generalized reluctance to commit to anything is at the root of this crisis in integ
SUFFERING IS A GOOD THING?
1 Peter 2:19-25 (New Living Translation)
19 For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. 20 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.
