Christmas wonder

Luke 1:43 "Why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"
Elizabeth was overwhelmed by the realization that the mother of the Messiah had come to her.  She realized that she was, as we all are, unworthy of such attention.  She was a humble housewife in an obscure part of the world.  She hadn't made any headlines or done anything noteworthy.  She was an ordinary woman just like us.
The wonder of the Advent season is not the angelic announcements to Mary and Zacheriah, not the announcement by a chorus of angels to shepherds, not the star seen in the East by the Maji.  The wonder is that the Savior of the world comes to me and to you individually, personally.  It causes us to stop and ponder in this Christmas season, "Who am I that the Savior of the world should come to me?"  Praise be to God, He does.
