WHICH IS RIGHT?

They are interesting things, our opinions.  Everyone has one about something.  One of the things that I have discovered about taking surveys is that it is very hard to get a solid consensus.  Take this last Sunday for example.  Some of the council members had suggested that perhaps we should have just one service during the summer.  The major reason for suggesting this was not economic which one might logically suppose.  It had to do with bringing the church family together. There are people who consistantly attend at 8:00 and others who attend at 10:00 and are members of our church but they have never met.  So the suggestion was that this would be a way to get us all together to worship together over the summer.  Quite honestly, I was opposed to the change.  It isn't that I wouldn't enjoy having to do just one service for a time.  I would, certainly.  However, I know that many of those who come at 8:00 a.m. do so because they must work on Sunday and they can come to church before they go to work.  Nevertheless, at the urging of some of the council we put the survey in the bulletin and asked folks to mark their preference, stay with 2 services, have one at 9:00 a.m. or one at 8:00 or one at 10:00.  Out of the sixty plus people that attended on Sunday only half of you turned in the survey.  I took those non-responses to mean that they did not want a change.  Out of the thirty that were turned in, 2/3 said that one service was o.k.  The others were adamantly opposed to a change.  That is not enough information for us to make a change.  Therefore, we will stay with two services.  So, let me say this to those of you who would like to meet some of the other members of the church.  Why not attend the other service for a couple of Sundays?  You will have a chance to meet some really neat people.  And, if you want to have the church family together, we will be having a church picnic and baptism on July 18 at Sombrero Beach, pavillion #2 at 12:00 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch, celebrate the new lives in Christ and meet some of the other members of the church that you have not gotten to know.  I am so excited about these four baptisms.  There is no service in the church that I find more touching.  Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial and ressurection of Jesus Christ and our beginning our life in Him new and clean.  Come join us!
