Welcome Home to a Church That is Joyful and Alive!

Marathon Community United Methodist Church is the oldest continuing congregation in Marathon, having been stablished as a non-denominational church in 1948. We became a Methodist church in 1952, and United Methodist in 1968. Our primary purpose is to “declare God’s praise in the islands” and make disciples for Jesus Christ. Our congregation is diverse, with folks from all around the country and even the world who share the love of Jesus Christ with each other and with the community around us.

We are a lively, lovely, welcoming congregation with services to appeal to both young and old. Pastor Peggy Benson delivers a well crafted sermon that links the ancient scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to our daily, modern lives. Our music program is the centerpiece of our worship. We are blessed to have Eric Buhyoff as our keyboard player. We have a wonderful group of singers that lead the music at our blended contemporary service. Our preaching is Biblical, practical and inspiring. Our aim is to create worship every Sunday that engages all of the worshipper’s senses and transforms lives.

We are a vibrant and joyful church that provides a space through its worship for every person to encounter God. We have traditional and blended contemporary worship services, Bible studies, adult and children’s Sunday School, recovery ministries, and indivicual counseling by the pastor. Our worship is not about style, it’s about God.

Come visit us, and see why so many people keep coming back!
